Last week I received an email inviting me to appear on Ég, föld, férfi, nő, a travel and tourism show on MTV-M1, Hungary’s public television channel.
The show airs weekly and each episode presents a different part of the country or a particular city. This episode was about Budapest, and somehow I ended up in it as one of the city’s more colorful personalities. 🙂
The filming took place in my studio on Friday evening, and I was really surprised by how many people were involved. I know from my years working at Laboratory that quite a lot of people can be working behind the scenes on a shoot like this, but I still didn’t expect it to be quite such a serious production.
Once again, I realized how much being in front of a camera is still not my thing. I simply don’t know how to behave naturally.
When we’re actually working or having a conversation, there’s no problem. But when I have to repeat something I just said spontaneously because a shot didn’t work, or there was some technical problem, suddenly I feel incredibly awkward.
I’m sure this is something you can get used to, just like speaking in front of a large audience. But for me, neither comes naturally yet, and unfortunately I’m going to have to work on both, because I’ll be giving a presentation to a larger audience in just a week.
The show is uploaded to YouTube, so I’ll post the video once this episode is online.
Update: I linked to the video in a later post.
