At the beginning of July, I was invited to the Balassi Institute for an official introduction, where the first-ever Virivee mini fashion show took place.
Fashion shows aren’t exactly something you normally do with tights, but the organizers specifically asked me to put together a three-to-five-minute presentation. Afterwards, I also spent a few minutes telling the audience what I actually do.
The day went really well. I met a lot of interesting people, and I even made it into the evening M1 news for a few seconds. I suspect that appearance on TV is also how the team behind M1 Balaton Summer (Balatoni Nyár) found me. They invited me to be a guest on their morning show.
Balaton Summer is a live summer magazine programme broadcast from Revfulop directly from Lake Balaton every weekday morning, with lots of guests and different interesting topics. We prepared another mini fashion show for the programme, this time focusing on my summer colours, with five models.
There was one slight complication: we had to be in Revfulop by 7 a.m. The TV station’s minibus picked us up at 5 in the morning, so several of us spent most of the journey there asleep.
This was my first live TV appearance.
Luckily, I had already done a few interviews and had some experience with cameras and microphones, so I’m gradually getting less nervous about these things. I think this was actually the least nervous I’ve been so far.
If anyone is interested, I appear in the July 21 episode on the Mediaklikk website, and the mini fashion show is included too.
The girls looked beautiful and the short interview went by very quickly. Since we already had everyone together, we took a few more photos on the beach afterwards.
As for the actual benefit of these appearances, I can’t say I’ve noticed much direct impact so far. I’m not getting noticeably more enquiries or customers because of them.
What I do notice is that people are starting to recognize me. Or at least they’re starting to hear that there is someone in Hungary making beautiful, unusual tights. And for now, I think that’s probably the more important part.
