It was time to expand the Virivee collection and start designing tights for children too.
Until now I had only worked with Lycra (polyamide) tights, but cotton material is the standard choice for kids products, so for this new collection I started working with cotton tights, which meant getting to know some new materials. Not only are the tights themselves different, but the inks I use for printing them are different from those used for our women’s tights.
For some of the designs I reused patterns from the adult collection, so mums and daughters could wear matching tights. For the rest I let my creativity run free. I love these cute, playful designs. I used to design lots of cute greeting cards, and working on this collection reminded me of those days. It was so much fun to create these little characters and patterns.
When designing the collection I also tried to imagine what kind of tights my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter would like to wear. But of course ever since she became old enough to choose her own clothes, she hasn’t wanted to wear tights at all. Typical. 😂
Anyway, I think the collection turned out really cute.
